(Professor/Division of Transdisciplinary Sciences)
Department of Advanced Materials Science /Polymer Chemistry, Coordination Chemistry, Materials Science, Nanospace Science
Career Summary
1997: Graduated from Faculty of Engineering (Kyoto University)
2002: Received Ph.D. in Engineering (Kyoto University)
2002: Assistant Professor (Kyoto University)
2010: Associate Professor (Kyoto University)
2018: Professor (University of Tokyo)
Educational Activities
Graduate school: New Introduction to Advanced Materials Science ‡W
Undergraduate school: Inorganic Chemistry II
Research Activities
Development of new methodologies to control the structures of polymers and nanomaterials using microporous compounds such as MOF, COF, and organic cages.
Other Activities
Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ), Society of Polymer Science, Japan (SPSJ), Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (JSCC)
Future Plan
Use of designable nanopores for materials synthesis will facilitate multi-level structural control over products. In addition, the construction of host-guest nanocomposites provides unprecedented material platforms to accomplish many nanoscale functions.
Messages to Students
I am a firm believer that students can take proactive approaches to problem solving if they are provided with significant and exciting targets that encourage them to act spontaneously, which can result in high praise from society for their talents and insights.
