WORLD LEADING INNOVATIVE GRADUATE STUDY PROGRAM FOR MATERIALS RESEARCH,INDUSTRY,AND TECHNOLOGY (MERIT-WINGS COURSE)

MERIT-WINGS EDUCATIONAL GOALS FOR THE MERIT‐WINGS COURSE

The MERIT-WINGS Course is designed to provide a specialized education course that integrates the Master’s and Doctoral programs, in order to foster leaders driving progress on the global stage. Its objective is to produce Doctoral graduates with a broad vision, high ethical standards, and strong expertise rooted in their experience of advanced materials science research, having the ability to adopt a holistic approach and flexibility in working across disciplines and the capacity to apply their knowledge creatively and constructively.

SPRING GX

SPRING GX aims to train a large number of Doctoral students (Approximately 1200 students in the doctoral program) to become highly skilled professionals who will lead the green transformation (GX) of our society and play an active role in the realization of GX in all fields. In an environment in which curiosity-driven students with a high level of specialist knowledge and strong research skills can freely conduct pioneering and emergent research, students will understand that the future vision of society can only be GX. They will have multiple opportunities to develop an awareness of the link between their research and the issues facing society and to acquire the transferable skills needed to fully utilize their specialist expertise in their future careers.

World-leading Innovative Graduate Study Program for Quantum and Semiconductor Science & Technology Program

In the 21st century, quantum science and technology will firmly solidify basic academic fields such as quantum physics, quantum chemistry, and quantum life science, and expand beyond them into engineering with a clear awareness of social implementation to make a big change in society. Therefore, it is an urgent issue to educate quantum natives who can utilize quantum science and technology and to provide appropriate career path support that enables the rapid social implementation. The Quantum Science and Technology Fellowship is designed to develop human resources to solve sustainable development goals (SDGs) and global commons by developing a research and education program that gives a broad overview from quantum science to quantum technology and by providing a career path support program.

The Goal of Applied Physics

The goal of Applied Physics is to develop a stage = “new material” that can manipulate undeveloped degrees of freedom, to explore unknown phenomena created from that stage and to bring out excellent functions, and to bring out its excellent functions. The purpose is to contribute to the development of human society by elucidating the mechanisms and developing application fields for these phenomena and functions.
