In recent years, the application of advanced composite materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) has been rapidly progressing due to the strong demand for fuel efficiency improvement in aerospace structures. In this lecture, the current status, problems, and future prospects of the application of advanced composite materials in aerospace structures will be outlined.

A small, portable, USB-connected device that reads the nucleotide sequence from a single molecule of DNA. New observational technologies, such as DNA sequencers, are changing the landscape of genome research. We will introduce how the new DNA sequencers can be used in society, along with the information processing technologies that support the new technologies.

The echoes caused by reflected sound greatly affect the quality of architectural spaces. While the acoustic design to secure the quality of sound environment has been technically advanced by introducing numerical simulation and new acoustic materials, there are some living spaces that have been left out of the design, and there is a need to improve and spread the design guidelines. In this lecture, we will overview the current status and issues of acoustic design.
