Remarkable Relationships between Microbiota in Human Body and Cancer

YAMASHITA Riu, Visiting Associate Professor

The relationship between the microbiota in the human body and cancer is a topic many reports have been written about in recent years. One of them is especially noteworthy. It reports that fecal microbiota transplant of the gut microbiome promoted the immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) response in patients with whom the ICI was ineffective before the transplant. This suggests the potential of microbiota as a new treatment target. In this seminar, we will discuss the relationships between microbiota and cancer, introducing research conducted in the academia-industry joint research project MONSTAR-SCREEN.
