Interaction Between Plasma and Materials in Nuclear Fusion

SAKAMOTO Ryuichi, Visiting Professor

We are researching nuclear fusion reactions that are universally happening in the immense time and space in the universe to use them as energy for our life. Interactions between plasma and materials are essential for creating energy from fusion in limited time and space. I will explain those interactions and the circulation of materials and energy.

Recognition in Innate Immune

MATSUMOTO Naoki, Associate Professor

The immune system protects us from pathogens and cancers. However, if it works excessively, it starts attacking our bodies. Inhibitory receptors help control this function by recognizing the molecules in the normal cells and inhibiting the immune cells. In this seminar, I will introduce the inhibitory receptors that emerge in innate immunity cells and the molecules they recognize.

Chemicals Hidden in Tap Water

YAMAMURO Masumi, Professor

There was a time when Japanese tap water was polluted by carcinogenic herbicides (cancer-causing weed killers), resulting in the highest biliary cancer mortality. I will explain how tap water gets contaminated with chemicals that are not generally known and what types of substances tend to mix in.
