■Editor's Notes
Four billion years ago, life began in the ocean. A human adult’s body weight is 50%–65% water. Through the cover story of SOSEI Vol. 41, I learned about the role water, which is essential for humans, plays in human society. In the GSFS, professors research to find solutions to water and social systems issues through “transdisciplinary approaches” of adopting technologies and knowledge from various fields. I believe that these endeavors will improve the social systems and protect the global environment. I hope readers will dwell on the message of the article and think about how water relates to our society when they drink a glass of water after waking up or take a hot bath.
