■Editor's Notes
Materials science is a broad academic field that ranges from the principles of materials and the search for materials that will be the basis of the realization of new systems, such as climate change measurement, energy conversion, and circular economy. Despite the limited space in the magazine, we covered these topics: The fascination of materials science based on physics, chemistry, and material engineering; the great potential of research outcomes that will contribute to society and industry; and research promotion systems beyond expertise and organizations as a transdisciplinary field. We hope that readers will become familiar with materials science and attain an idea of its broad, deep, and dynamic attributes.
